At Somerville Primary School, we intend to provide children with a wide range of musical opportunities through listening, singing, playing, evaluating, analysing, and composing across a variety of styles, historical periods, traditions, and musical genres. In doing this, we hope to provide our pupils with the opportunities to develop an appreciation of different forms of music and to be able to discuss the impact music has on them. We will:
- Teach well planned and varied music lessons that allow children to develop a range of different musical skills including; use of notation, composition and performance.
- Ensure ALL children are able to access the music curriculum.
- Build a love of music and champion the subject across the school.
