School uniform at Somerville Primary School is set out in the following guidelines. The purpose of these guidelines is to support you as parent and carer with the schools expectations and to ensure clarity for all children, parents and carers over what is the expected standard.
As you are aware we have high expectations and standards to be maintained for all of our children. School uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the overall ethos of Somerville Primary School. We ask all parents who send their children to our school to support the school uniform guidelines.
The school office sells school ties and water bottles for your convenience. For all school uniform needs visit one of the many uniform sellers locally who all have our logos or click on the our shop link above. All uniform shops are very busy over the summer holidays and especially just before children return to school in September preparing uniforms for several schools, so please make sure you do not leave it too late to order your child's school uniform.

Jumper/Cardigan
|
A navy neck jumper, sweatshirt (preferably round neck), tank top or cardigan.

A white collared shirt with school tie (elasticated tie or whole ties may be purchased from the school office) During the warmer months children may wish to wear a polo shirt (without tie), shorts or a navy blue gingham dress. |

Shoes |
Sensible, low heeled, BLACK school shoes. NO pumps, trainers or boots (including Kicker boots).

White T-shirt, navy shorts and black pumps or black lightweight trainers for PE for hall use. When buying training shoes or pumps please do not get ones with black soles as these mark the hall floor and children will not be allowed to wear them. All children may need something warmer (eg track suit) for when they participate in outdoor games in the winter months. PE kits are brought into school at the beginning of the week and are left in school, being returned home at the end of the week. |
| Swimming from Y3 onwards | Swimming trunks (not Bermuda shorts) or costumes. Please note that no goggles, watches or earrings are permitted at the swimming baths unless a letter is received from parents or carers. |

Additional expectations
| Hair |
One natural colour. NO extreme hair styles are allowed (this includes partially or totally shaved hair). |

Jewellery |
One pair of discreet stud earrings in the lower ear and your child must be able to remove these for PE. One wrist watch. Rakhi Bracelets, Anklets, Taweez lockets and other religious jewellery are permitted where it is an essential part of the religion for such to be worn. Anklets should be worn underneath socks or tights. Earrings for religious purposes should be as small as possible and will be covered by a plaster during PE or similar activities if the child is unable to remove them. The school cannot accept responsibility for the loss of or injury caused by jewellery. NO FACIAL, TONGUE OR BODY PIERCINGS ARE ALLOWED FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS. |
