MIDDAY ASSISTANTS

Somerville Primary School

Working hours: 7.5 hours per week

Monday to Friday

11:45am – 1:15pm

38 weeks per year

The Governors of Somerville Federation are looking for a midday assistant to join our team during the lunch service initially to be based at Somerville Primary School with children aged 4-11 yrs. old.   As part of the team you will be supervising the welfare of children in the dining room, playground and classroom to help provide a secure and happy environment for children at lunchtime.

 This will be a permanent post following a successful probationary period.

 The successful candidates will have:

  • Experience of supervising children, through either work related experience or as a parent or carer
  • Energy, enthusiasm and willingness to encourage and play with the children
  • Current First Aid at work certificate or willingness to undertake training
  • Calm and caring disposition
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a group and individually

The weekly hours are 7.5 hours Monday to Friday (11:45 am until 1.15pm) during term time only (38 weeks).  The closing date for applications is Wednesday 11th October at 12pm with interviews to be held on Monday 16th October. TEACHING ASSISTANT 1 - 1

Somerville Primary School

Part time 32.25 hours per week

Band C

Fixed term contract until 31/08/2024 (Term time 38 weeks contract)

Daily working hours 8:45 to 3:30pm

The Governing Body of Somerville Federation would like to appoint a caring, energetic, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly school on a fixed term contract. The Teaching Assistant will be supporting one or two children who have additional needs and will need to be sensitive to the needs of these children.  

The Teaching Assistant may also be required to support other children in small groups, being proficient in supporting children through aspects of phonics and other curriculum areas. The successful candidate should be able to support young children with their behaviour and learning needs.  They should know how to de-escalate when in crisis and have an understanding of how to work with children who will require social, emotional and mental health support. The candidate should be physically able to support children using team teach methods for which training will be given if not already trained. Training will be provided where necessary for a candidate who demonstrates that they will be able to achieve the expectations of school staff. The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of the National Curriculum. The Teaching Assistant should be able to build up a good rapport and relationships with children over time. They will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, have the ability to work as a team member, be able to use their own initiative and also have a clear commitment to an inclusive school. This post is a fixed term contract due to the finances which the governing body have designated to be attached to pupils with additional needs. If the school deemed to use the funding attached to the child in an alternative manner or the funding was reduced then the fixed term contract post would either be reduced or end.

The Governing Body of Somerville Federation would like to appoint a caring, energetic, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly, dedicated team on a fixed term contract (The contract is fixed term in the first instance linked to funding). The teaching assistant will be supporting key stage 1 and/or key stage 2 children including children with SEND 1:1 and EHCPs. The teaching assistant will be required to support children within a specific year group to be allocated after interview. The person should be proficient in supporting children through aspects of National curriculum and phonics. The teaching assistant should be able to build up a good rapport and relationship with children over time. Training will be provided where necessary for a candidate who demonstrates that they will be able to achieve the expectations of school staff. The Governing Body of Somerville Federation would like to appoint a caring, energetic, and enthusiastic Room Leader of our 2 year old provision. The room leader will assist the Assistant Headteacher and Executive Headteacher to line manage the childcare workers. Providing high quality care and education for all children. The successful candidate should have a good understanding of how children in their early years develop and learn. They should be able to support learning and development in the 2 year old provision.

You will hold at least a Level 3 Early Years Education qualification, you will be an exceptional mentor and early year’s practitioner who has proven experience in managing a room within a similar setting (ideally 2 years’ experience).

You will have impeccable interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively to colleagues at all levels, building superb working relationships to ensure common goals can be achieved.
