World Book Day
Dear parents/carers,
World Book Day is on Thursday 3rd March. We will be celebrating our love of books for the whole day and our author of the year this year is Tom Percival. We will be enjoying his books across the school for the day and completing some work based on his books.
Book Tokens
Your child will bring home their £1 book token on the day to exchange for a special World Book Day book in a local book shop or supermarket. They can also use the token towards a full priced book.
Dressing up
We are inviting the children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. You can be as creative as you wish and you do not have to go out and buy a costume. Your child may wish to decorate a hat or wear face paint to represent their favourite character.
Potato competition
We will be holding a ‘dress a potato as your favourite character competition’ and there will be a winning potato in every class. Please bring your potato in on Thursday 3rd March if your child wishes to enter. There are some examples below.
We hope this day will be a fun-filled day to show our love of books in Somerville.
