Year 6 end of year letter
9th July 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
Unfortunately during these unprecedented times your child's Year 6 experience has been cut short and has not been what would normally happen in their final year at Primary School. We are extremely sad that they have not had the opportunity to demonstrate how hard they worked over the last few years and especially since September by completing their SATs. I would just like to say that the whole year group have been an absolute credit to you and whilst SATs are definitely not the be all and end all, they had worked so hard that the staff team believed that we would have been securing our best results at Somerville as a consequence of their hardwork. However we will now never know whether this was acheiveable.
We are upset that they have not been able to celebrate their time at Somerville with their end of year party and performance for parents, friends and family. We apologise that this has not been possible but we know you understand that these are strange times for us all. It feels extremely strange that we have reached the end of the Summer term without any of these things taking place at the school.
However we have planned a socially distanced get together for the Year 6 children who are able to attend, weather permitting, on Thursday 16th July 2020. We have planned for the children to have pizza and milkshakes on the school playground-hence the need for rain free weather. If your child would like to attend please click on this link and complete the details so we know to expect them and we can get in touch if the event has to be cancelled. They will ideally need to bring something to sit on, a picnic blanket, cushion or old sheet. They can be dropped off at Park Rd Gate at 1.30pm and collected from 3.00pm to 3.15pm.
It is now time for our staff to say goodbye to your child after seeing them grow into the young person they are today and for being a part of so many shared experiences and happy memories. We truly are privileged to have been entrusted with educating your child from when you initially chose Somerville Primary School for your child’s primary education till now. We would like to thank you for giving us the chance of playing a part in yours and their lives.
We would also like to thank you for your continued support over the years and we wish your child continued success.
